Group Performances

All skaters are welcome to join Great Park’s group performances.  Skaters will be divided by level to skate in group show numbers, with choreography and costumes to match!  Please note that in order to register, all skaters must have a pre-requisite for the level they wish to register for.  If you or your skater do not have a pre-requisite, please email gpilearntoskate@therinks.com to schedule an evaluation.  Please include that you are requesting an evaluation in order to register for the holiday show.  Current Learn To Skate class participants do not need an evaluation. Skaters that currently skate at Great Park Ice and register for leveled sessions, this level will enable the skater to register for the appropriate level.  All skaters who wish to participate in the holiday show must be a current US Figure Skating or Learn To Skate USA member.  This must be completed prior to registering for any performance.

Soloist Opportunities

Any skater that has competed at a Sectional or National event at the Juvenile (well balanced) level or higher are eligible to audition for a solo.  Audition fee will be $35 and will be registered for using Daysmart once registration becomes open for all groups.  This audition will consist of a video submission, 3 minutes maximum, emailed to AChang@therinks.com and CWalker@therinks.com.  After the close of entries deadline (Sunday, October 13th at 11:59pm), a panel will go over all submissions and contact those that have been chosen to perform in the show.  If chosen, you will be contacted and given the opportunity to choreograph a program of you and your coaches choice, no more than 2.5 minutes in length.  All music must fit the theme of the show and must have approval by Coutney Walker.

Any soloists who are not selected in this group, will have the opportunity to skate in an Elite group number, that will be part of the closing of the show.  The registration cost for the Elite group is included below and your $35 registration fee will be used as credit, applied towards your registration fee.

Dress Rehearsal

Saturday, December 7th is dress rehearsal.  It is mandatory for all show skaters to participate in dress rehearsal.  We will ask all skaters to dress in their costume, with full hair and makeup (as specified by your choreographer) on this day.  There will be a photographer present to take photos of each group and available for purchase.  Individual photos of your skater may also be taken upon request to the photographer if you wish to do so.  A full breakdown of this schedule will be emailed to all participants in November.

Costumes

Costume sizes will be requested upon registration.  Click here to view the costuming size chart. Costumes will be ordered according to the size specified during registration.  Please take the time to accurately measure your skater!!  These costumes will be ordered right away as they do take several weeks to arrive, this means we are unable to order replacements.  Any size alterations that need to be made will be at the cost of the skater.  Once costumes arrive, your group choreographer will let you know any other items that may need to be purchased (tights, etc.), as well as how they would prefer makeup and hair.

Practice Schedule

Please see chart below for group practice days/times.

*Sunday Group Skaters – Sunday, November 24th will have an adjusted schedule.  Practice times will be shifted to 12:00 – 1:30pm (will remain on Rink 4).  There will be an email reminder of this as the date approaches.

Show Directors may adjust groups and group levels based off registration.

Other Information

Tickets

One, general admission ticket ($10) will be given to each participant registered for the show.  All other tickets will need to be pre-ordered.  Great Park Ice will communicate a pre-order opportunity once the show draws closer.  Ticket prices will be as follows:

$10 SILVER: general admission, open bench seating

$15 GOLD: Center ice, stadium seating (orange seats)

$20 PLATINUM: VIP on ice seating, folding chairs on a floating rubber floor

There will be no exchanging or honoring ticket value for complimentary ticket. Seating will be first-come, first-serve for each section.

Flash Photography or Videography

Flash Photography or Videography will be strictly prohibited during the show.  Our house lights will be off for the show, this makes flash photography very dangerous as it could disorient a skater. Additionally, videoing skaters is disruptive to the audience around you.  We ask that you please just sit back and enjoy the show!

Concessions

Concessions will be available on the mezzanine of Fivepoint Arena (Rink 4), as well as the café and restaurant.  Intermission will be approximately 15 minutes in length and will be a great opportunity to grab a holiday snack, warm drink, or adult beverage.

A Magical Holiday On Ice is sure to be an evening to remember, showcasing many of southern California’s premier and upcoming figure skating talent.  We hope you join us for this magical evening filled with joy and celebration of the season!
